Blog Mission

To raise awareness for a cause that is very close to our hearts … the death and wanton destruction of the very rare and very beautiful endangered species, commonly known as the independent high street retailer …

The high streets are so boring these days…anyone who is looking for something different – is simply on a fruitless mission.

Faceless, mindless shops with NO vision and NO soul…

Home made jams, pickles and wonderful cheeses, served up in a brown paper bags please!

Fresh herbs and spices their aroma rushing out to greet you, and heavenly flowers (not sad tired bunches of excuses).

A place for local people to be able to sell their crafts instead of the doing the rounds at craft fayres!

Exciting street markets with music and food to tempt the shoppers!

Colour and lots of colour, with the ability to be able to stretch and use our imagination – which is something that has been taken away from us – as we ALL trek the same old, same old shops, like sheep following each other, as they walk the hills and pastures!

Lets make shopping fun and exciting again – like the child in the candy store – so much to choose from!

From having a retail outlet myself, specialist tennis & sports equipment it was an idea bound for success because of the word specialist. We were privileged to stock kit that JJB, Gilesports and other national retailers didnt have access too. Unfortunately, the pricing structure was so that it was high end, in the good times customers didnt mind the cost, they wanted to look the best on court and have the best equipment too.We had the training and experience to guide customers through their purchases. When the credit crunch( who made that phrase up?) hit us the suppliers didnt respond accordingly and we went down the pan.

What I’m trying to say is, shops are tactile environments, you cant touch the internet, you cant walk around and bump into things you wouldnt normally see that you would in a shop. You cant smell the internet like you can smell a flower, you cant feel the texture of a petal against your skin, the internet shop doesnt tell you that doesnt suit you or that colur would look good with this etc.

My local high street is now dead, full of pound shops and cut price booze and cigarettes.

I walked around Bath earlier this year and every little lane was full of little knicky knacky, wacky, unusual, conventional goods shops and was vibrant and buzzing.

How can I describe the internet…………..Magnolia. Its everywhere you look and go.

Long live the shop and let the shop survive.

A great blog and really does get the brain ticking.

I love the jam and brown paper bag and it is so true. It would be great if shops/stores and even the bigger dept stores could make shopping more fun.

My wife loves retail therapy whilst I am stood there being bored but carry on regardless.

I guess a male and female perspective on shopping is very different.

Now if they had some slides to go down…………

The shop is coming back, well in short form anyway. Its a long way off inception but just at conception stagee, thats always the best stage, all the fun bits, getting to grips with your subject. For sure it wont be mega, it wont be on the high street, it may appear on lower street ,not for a couple of years maybe. We’re starting off really small, you want to know how small, well from the computer desk to the back two shelves of a tennis club bar. Hey its a start!!

    More coming soon.
